The Cars

The P-WRC drivers must use a car built to the FIA’s Group N regulations or under the FIA’s Super 2000 regulations*. These showroom specification cars are road legal vehicles with four-wheel drive and turbo-charged engines, producing over 260 horsepower.

Japanese manufacturers Mitsubishi and Subaru have used the P-WRC to showcase the agility and performance of their most exciting road cars to a global audience and with the championship now open to more manufacturers by including Super 2000, the manufacturers showcase platform has expanded considerably.

Limited Servicing
To prevent costs from escalating, the P-WRC competitors are limited in several aspects of servicing:

  • Only 5 mechanics (and the crew) may work on the car during the service breaks.
  • Competitors must use a control fuel.
  • From 2008, all four-wheel drive competitors in the P-WRC must use WRC’s control tyre.
  • The number of tyres competitors may use is limited, and teams must nominate the tyre’s bar code in advance.

* A permanent bureau of technical experts has the power to change the minimum weight and other variables in order to maintain equilibrium in performance.
