Production Car World Rally Championship

The FIA Production car World Rally Championship (P-WRC) is the showcase support championship to the pinnacle of rallying - The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

If WRC is the premier league of rallying, then P-WRC is the first division with drivers doing everything they can to prove their skills during a fast and furious tour around the globe.

In 2008, over 30 drivers from 19 countries are battling for ten months in eight events across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australasia.

Most drivers have gained experience in rallying over a number of seasons and with national and regional championships under their belts, the time is right to prove their skills on a global stage. Throughout the eight events, competitors face vastly different driving surfaces over three days of intense rally driving on closed public roads.

In previous years, the Mitsubishi Lancer and Subaru Imprezza Group N cars have set the scene of some epic battles for victory and from 2007, Super 2000 cars were also eligible to score points. Fiat, MB, Peugot, Toyota and VW are among the first manufacturers to create cars for this category.

Millions of fans are gripped by the drama of P-WRC, both live and on TV, with WRC TV producing a thrill-packed 26-minute highlight programme showcasing all eight rounds. In its first of production in 2003, 23 broadcast partners in over 80 countries picked up this programme. That figure rose to 49 channels covering 218 territories by 2007.
