The competitors
To win the P-WRC drivers need to combine raw talent with ragged determination and complete trust of their cool-headed co-driver. The pressure to succeed is immense, every second counts during three days of intense competition, as only eight drivers out of the P-WRC field can score points on each events.

Participation is six of the eight events is mandatory, with entrants nominating their six events before the start of the season. Missing one of those selected can warrant exclusion from the Championship. There is no age limit on competitors.

Each organizer of a P-WRC round can nominate two local competitors to make a one-off entry into P-WRC events as Guest Drivers. Guest Drivers are also eligible to score P-WRC points.

The competition number
The 2008 P-WRC competitors are allocated start numbers between 31 and 60, which they will carry on every championship round. As entries can be made in the name of a driver or a team, the number belongs to the entrant and teams may wish to change drivers during the season. Guest Entries driver under car numbers 59 and 60.

The championship points
Drivers can score points on six of the eight rounds as they compete for the title of FIA Production car World Rally Champion. The top eight registered drivers on each of the eight rounds of the P-WRC score points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Different drivers competing under a team entry score points for themselves, not the team.

HANS® Device
Worn on the shoulders and around the back of the neck, HANS® Device is to help protect a driver’s head and neck from serious injury during accidents. In the event of an accident, the HANS® Device reduces the amount of head swings forward, minimizing the load placed on the neck by preventing the driver’s head from being pulled away from their upper body. For optimum use it has to be fitted correctly with the seatbelts and seat position. From 2008, all P-WRC competitors are required to wear and FIA-approved head restraint, such as the HANS® Device.
